Mr. H. Clifford Reynolds III ~ Principal and 3-4 Grade Teacher
Mr. Reynolds is the principal of Mayfair Christian School. His experience spans over 18 year in school leadership and teaching. Mr. Reynolds is a graduate from Spring Valley Academy in Centerville, OH where he made history by becoming the first African-American President of the Student body. He is a proud graduate of Oakwood University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. He continued his education by completing his Master of Education degree at Wright State University. Mr. Reynolds resides in the greater Canton community with his wife and two children who also attend Mayfair Christian School. In addition to Mr. Reynolds being our principal he also teaches 3rd and 4th grade.
Mrs. Virginia Johnson ~ K-2 Grade Teacher
This year is Mrs. Johnson’s 4th year teaching at Mayfair. With the help of Ms. Margie and Mrs. Peden, she teaches Kindergarten through 2nd grade. She has a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Akron and is also an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist. Mrs. Johnson has also worked as an aide, administrative assistant, and after-school teacher before her teaching career. She is currently taking classes toward her Denominational Certification. She is passionate about Adventist education and emphasizes the importance of students making connections between church, home, and school. In the classroom, her main objective is to help students form a lasting relationship with Christ and learn to rely on Him in everyday situations. Her kids love her, and they thrive under her energetic and devoted teaching style. Mrs. Johnson loves to incorporate the SMART Board into her teaching and makes lessons fun and engaging. She is a devoted wife and mother of two boys in Kindergarten and 3rd grade at MCS. In her spare time, her hobbies include reading, playing sports, art, and spending time with her family. She also is involved in Adventurers, VBS, and Women’s Ministry at her church.
Ms. Margie Benson ~ Teacher’s Aide
Margie has a Bachelors degree and loves working at Mayfair as a certified teachers aide. Margie commands the respect of children, while at the same time earning their devotion and affection! It’s not uncommon to see her in the middle of a game of tag or dodgeball during recess, and more often than not she wins! Margie is a valued and dedicated part of the Mayfair staff.
Mrs. Cherie Peden ~ Teacher’s Aide
Mrs. Cherie Peden joined the staff of Mayfair Christian School in October of 2015. She is a part time aide in the 1-2 classroom here are MCS. Mrs. Peden has experience working with young children and has a passion to help them grow closer to God. She is the mom of 4 lovely girls and the wife of a handsome gentleman. She was born in Uganda and grew up as a mission child in The Congo, Pakistan and India. Her mother was also a teacher and secretary in the schools where they were stationed and this is why Cherie felt herself pulled towards working in the field of education. She earned her Associates degree in Early Childhood Education at Columbia Union College now know as Washington Adventist University in 1990. Her oldest daughter just graduated from Southern Adventist University with her Associates degree in Nursing, the second oldest is in her senior year at Great Lakes Academy in Michigan. The two youngest daughters are in 6th and 8th grade at Mayfair.
Mrs. Peden has several hobbies, especially those that involve any type of fabric, yarn, thread, hooks and needles. She currently is the proprietor of Sew Fine Interiors, a single person interior decoration fabrication work room where she fabricates everything from bedding to window treatments. If it is made of fabric then she can make it. She also enjoys designing clothing patterns for dolls and has started selling them under the name of MA Petite Cherie Couture. All of the above is what Cherie did as a full time job before she joined the staff of Mayfair Christian School this year.
Mrs. Carolyn Grahn ~ Music Teacher
Mrs. Grahn joined the staff at the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year as head of the music department. She has Bachelor of Music Education and Masters of Arts in Music degrees from Andrews University, and Suzuki Piano Foundations 1A-7 Teacher Training. At Mayfair, Mrs. Grahn teaches music theory, K-8 choirs, 3-4 recorders, chimes, and 5-8 band. “My goal is to challenge each student to develop their musical ability to their highest potential for the glory of God.”
Carolyn and her husband, Pastor Larry Grahn, have three adult children, a son-in-law, and three grandsons who attend MCS. In addition to school music, Mrs. Grahn teaches private piano lessons and serves as a church organist and pianist, and assists in the Adventurer Club. Her hobbies include sewing and photo preservation albums.
Mrs. Heidi Samardzic – Administrative Assistant
Ms. Heidi (as most of the students refer to her as) grew up in the Mansfield area where her father was a pastor. She attended Mount Vernon Academy where she met her future husband and they both went on to attend Andrews University. In 2002 she graduated with an Associates in General Business. After marrying in 2002 she worked in the Andrews University Financial Aid Department for a year. After starting a family in 2004 Heidi has been a devoted mother and stay-at-home mom to their 3 boys. In July 2013 she joined the staff of Mayfair Christian School as their Administrative Assistant. Her 3 boys are in 1st, 4th and 6th grade here at Mayfair Christian School. Heidi is devoted to Adventist Education and her church where she currently serves as the co youth Sabbath school teacher and Adventurer club director. She truly has a passion of helping young people find Christ.
